Unveiled in Rome in November 2019 under the motto 'La Nuova Dolce Vita', the Roma harks back to Ferrari's great front-engined tourers of the 1950s and 1960s, including the 250 GT. Its place in the range is clear: the Portofino takes on the folding roof and seasonal use, while the Roma remains a 2+ coupé with a fixed roof, less radical than a berlinetta such as the F8 Tributo, yet more engaging than a mere cruiser.
The design, signed off by Flavio Manzoni and the Centro Stile, works by subtraction: taut surfaces, a grille reduced to a simple mesh, and a sweeping tail free of superfluous flourishes. Under the bonnet, the 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 delivering 620bhp is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox derived from the SF90 Stradale. The result is a car of two characters: smooth and hushed in everyday driving, sharp and remarkably fast the moment the pace picks up.
