Unveiled in 2004 as heir to the 360 Modena, the F430 marked Maranello's entry into an era of direct transfers from Formula 1 to the road. Its naturally aspirated 4.3-litre flat-plane crank V8 develops 490bhp and revs to 8,500rpm, with chain-driven timing that does away with belt replacements. Above all, it introduced the E-Diff, an electronic differential inherited from F1, and the steering-wheel-mounted manettino, which adjusts chassis, gearbox and electronics in a single gesture.

With 0 to 62mph dispatched in 4 seconds and carefully honed underbody aerodynamics, the F430 proves just as usable day-to-day as it is on track. This 2007 example is fitted with the paddle-shift six-speed F1 automated manual gearbox, the model's emblematic configuration. The F430 now stands as a collectable milestone: the last V8 berlinetta from Maranello with an F1 gearbox before the arrival of dual-clutch transmission on the 458.
