History & character

The lineage traces back to the 1994 RS2 Avant, developed with Porsche, which established the idea of an estate capable of holding its own against established sports cars. The first RS6, the C5, arrived in 2002 with a twin-turbo V8, before subsequent generations explored the V10 and then a return to the V8. The C8, unveiled in 2019, extends this heritage by pairing a 600bhp 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo with 48-volt mild hybridisation and quattro all-wheel drive.

The character rests on this dual nature. The bodywork, widened by a few centimetres and sharing almost no panels with the A6, signals intent without overstatement. Day to day, the eight-speed tiptronic gearbox, adaptive air suspension and a family estate's boot make everyday use entirely practical. Partial cylinder deactivation and the 48-volt system temper fuel consumption, while the V8 retains the deep-throated voice that has set these estates apart for over twenty years.
