In 2016, Porsche completely renewed the Panamera: the second generation (971) is built on a new platform, with a more elegant line and a digitalised cabin. The 4 E-Hybrid plays an unprecedented role here: the hybrid is no longer the "sensible" version but a genuine Porsche, whose electric boost strategy is directly derived from the 918 Spyder supercar. Our 2017 example is from the first wave of this generation.
The mechanicals combine a 330bhp twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 with a 136bhp electric motor, for a combined 462bhp and 700Nm available from low revs. Eight-speed PDK gearbox, four-wheel drive. In practical terms: around 30-40km in pure electric mode for daily journeys, and the immediate thrust of both motors when you ask more of the car. A silent GT in town, very rapid on the open road.
