Unveiled in late 1993 as successor to the 964, the 993 is the ultimate air-cooled 911 — the one many regard as the most accomplished. The Carrera 4S is a rare and spectacular variant: a wide body borrowed from the Turbo, a lowered chassis, Turbo brakes and four-wheel drive, yet powered by the naturally aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six producing 285bhp, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Only 6,948 examples of the Carrera 4S were ever produced.

The 993 Carrera 4S embodies the most muscular silhouette of the air-cooled era without the complexity of turbocharging. Its value has strengthened steadily, buoyed by the definitive end of air-cooling in 1998 and by the growing scarcity of well-maintained examples. A Swiss car, inspected and with a documented history, ticks every box for the modern collectible 911: usable on a daily basis, robust, and consistently sought after by connoisseurs.
