Introduced in 2016, the 991.2 represents the evolutionary iteration of the seventh generation of the Porsche 911. The most significant change is the departure from naturally aspirated engines in favour of a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six (MA2), producing 420 bhp and 499 Nm in the Carrera 4S. This unit delivers superior performance to its 3.8-litre predecessor, with 0–100 km/h despatched in 3.9 seconds in Cabriolet PDK guise. The seven-speed PDK gearbox has been refined for even more precise and instantaneous gearchanges.
The 991.2 Carrera 4S Cabriolet combines Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive with an electrohydraulic hood that opens in under 13 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Porsche Composite Ceramic Brakes (PCCB, optional), standard PASM adaptive suspension and the 44 mm wider bodyshell exclusive to the 4 variant ensure remarkable handling composure. Produced until 2019, ahead of the arrival of the 992, the 991.2 is today regarded as one of the most accomplished modern 911s, lauded by Autocar and Road & Track for its balance between sporting character and everyday versatility.
