Unveiled in September 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the RS6 Avant C8 is the fourth generation of a lineage launched in 2002 and a direct descendant of the 1994 RS2. Under the bonnet, the twin-turbo 4.0 TFSI V8 develops 600bhp and 800Nm, assisted by a 48-volt network and cylinder deactivation. Quattro all-wheel drive, eight-speed tiptronic gearbox: the recipe remains that of an estate capable of doing it all.
This generation also marks a commercial turning point: it is the first RS6 estate officially sold in North America, following decades of frustration on the other side of the Atlantic. Aesthetically, Audi widened the gap with the A6 by retaining few shared body panels, giving the model a broad, instantly recognisable silhouette. The C8 is now regarded as the archetype of the fast family estate, with a reputation for relative discretion that its most flamboyant versions are only too happy to contradict.
