Launched in 2014 for the 2015 model year, the Macan (type 95B) is Porsche's first compact SUV, developed on the MLB platform shared with the Audi Q5 yet comprehensively re-engineered at Weissach. The S variant is equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 delivering 340 bhp, mated to the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox and the PTM all-wheel-drive system. Compact, agile and swift, it brings Porsche's dynamic DNA to an urban and accessible format — a formula that accounts for its enormous commercial success.
At its launch, the Macan S established itself as the most sporting SUV in its class, lauded for its precise steering, taut chassis and enduring brakes. A 0–100 km/h time of 5.4 seconds and an almost sports-car-like character earned it the reputation of the '911 of SUVs'. On the used market, the first generation continues to appeal through the sheer pleasure it affords behind the wheel and its role as a gateway into the Porsche universe, whilst demanding the attentive maintenance that is a hallmark of the marque.
