The Range Rover Sport is the Range Rover for those who put driving first: the house's signature luxury, in a more dynamic package. The second-generation L494 (2013-2022) marks a genuine leap forward: an all-aluminium monocoque, around 400 kg lighter than the first generation, and agility that's been truly transformed. Our 2019 example benefits from the facelift (twin touchscreen) and the Autobiography Dynamic specification, the pinnacle of the range: full leather, heated and ventilated seats, 21-inch alloy wheels.

The 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel with 306 bhp and 700 Nm is the ideal engine for this chassis: massive torque from low revs, a smooth ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, and reasonably restrained fuel consumption for 2.3 tonnes. Air suspension comes as standard: magic-carpet ride comfort on the road, variable ground clearance off-road, and genuine towing capability — the electric tow bar is fitted.
