To save Porsche back in the days, the marketing heads decided to play the affordable card in their line up. Came the Boxster in the late 90s with some similarities to the 911 996, for example the controversial headlights. Still fast and powerful the Boxster was a great compromise if the 911 was not at your reach. Nowadays the Boxster got an additional tag, the 718, thus being from the series of one- or two-seat sports-racing cars built by Porsche from 1957 to 1962.
